Investigative Committee Rejects Request from Vahagn Harutyunyan's Defense Lawyer
The Special Investigative Service has rejected the request of the defense lawyer for Vahagn Harutyunyan, the former head of the investigative group for the March 1 case, to lift the arrest warrant issued against him. This information was provided to Armenpress by the press secretary of the Special Investigative Service, Marina Ohanyan.
“The defense lawyer's request was discussed, and the investigator made a decision to reject it on the grounds of being baseless,” said Ohanyan.
Vahagn Harutyunyan's lawyer had appealed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia and the head of the Special Investigative Service, suggesting the cancellation of the arrest warrant against Harutyunyan.
Vahagn Harutyunyan is involved as a defendant under Article 38-349, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code (forging evidence in cases of serious or particularly serious crimes), Article 308, Part 2 (abuse of official powers, leading to serious consequences through negligence), and Article 309, Part 2 (exceeding official powers combined with violence, weapon use, or the application of special means).
