Senator Confesses Why He Vetoed Armenian Genocide Resolution

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who vetoed the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide in the Senate after the Erdogan-Trump meeting at the White House on November 13, has confessed that he did so at the request of the White House, reports ermenihaber.

According to Turkish 'Ahaber', Graham recounted in an interview with Axios that a senior official at the White House asked him to go to the Senate and block the Armenian Genocide resolution. “I said, of course. The only reason I did it was because Erdogan was still in Washington. I am trying to save the relationship as much as possible,” Graham stated.

When asked if he feels uncomfortable blocking the Armenian Genocide resolution, Graham responded, “Yes, because I like Bob Menendez. He has been working on this for years. I am not going to object next time.”

It is noteworthy that after Graham, a second veto was applied in the Senate against the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide by Republican Senator David Perdue from Georgia.
