Arsen Artsrunian Transferred from Life Imprisonment to Semi-Open Prison
Today, two life-sentenced prisoners have been transferred from a semi-closed regime penitentiary to a semi-open regime facility. This was stated by Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan during a press conference, following his visit to the Armavir penitentiary.
“Two life-sentenced prisoners have been transferred from this very Armavir penitentiary to the Sevan penitentiary. One of them is Arsen Artsrunian, and the other is Ashot Manukyan,” said the minister.
It should be recalled that Arsen Artsrunian is serving a life sentence for the case related to Dro. He has been incarcerated since December 1994 following a Supreme Court ruling on December 10, 1996, for plotting murders. In 2003, the death penalty he received was commuted to life imprisonment. There are two individuals serving life sentences in this case.
Ashot Manukyan has been imprisoned since 1996. He was accused of the murder of three servicemen and sentenced to execution; however, the sentence was not carried out, and in 2003, his punishment was also commuted to life imprisonment.
