Attention: Taxi Drivers from Armenia Fined in Georgia, Penalty Amounts to 30,000 AMD

A driver who recently returned from Georgia spoke to auroranews.am's news section, detailing the situation he encountered. He was fined 32,000 AMD for driving a non-white taxi vehicle, which is prohibited under Georgian laws, even for foreign drivers, and subject to fines.

The Georgian traffic police stated that this is their country's law and must be followed. Notably, the law has been in effect in Georgia since October 1, according to a decision by the Tbilisi City Hall.

All private taxis operating in the city must be white. Otherwise, they will incur a fine amounting to approximately 30,000 AMD. However, it had not been previously communicated that the new regulations also apply to taxi vehicles arriving from abroad. It turns out that if a vehicle's signs indicate that it is providing taxi services, it is subject to penalties.

The driver who shared this news with us also mentioned that he was fined 8,000 AMD for parking for just a few minutes since, according to the law, parking fees must be paid. He reminded that Armenia has a similar system with red lines, where drivers must pay for parking; otherwise, they will face fines.

Dear drivers, if you are traveling in a taxi vehicle and transporting passengers, you must remove any taxi signs from your vehicle to avoid fines. Remove any signs visible on images that indicate it is a taxi.
