Ara Mkrtchyan Still in Coma, Karen Grigoryan Reports
The beaten Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkrtchyan is still in a coma, said Karen Grigoryan, Deputy Head of the Central Clinical Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense, to reporters.
“Lieutenant Colonel Mkrtchyan is still in a coma, his condition is assessed as extremely serious, but stable. We hope he will recover, and consciousness will return in the coming days,” Grigoryan stated.
He noted that reports in the media indicating that the artificial respiration machines have already been turned off are not consistent with reality. “He is under artificial respiration—still in a coma,” he added.
Earlier, it was reported that Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkrtchyan of the Armed Forces of Armenia was assaulted in the Vayots Dzor province. Within the framework of a criminal case initiated regarding the incident, Vayots Dzor Governor's assistant Harutyun Grigoryan has been charged with causing serious bodily harm intentionally.
