Typhoon Hits China: Thousands of Flights Canceled

The eastern part of China has been struck by Typhoon 'Dolphin', a powerful tropical storm. As a result, flights have been massively canceled, and train services have also been restricted in some areas.

The typhoon reached the coastal regions of Zhejiang province on Sunday evening. On that day, more than 2,230 flights were canceled at two major airports in Shanghai, with an additional 720 cancellations reported on Monday morning.

Problems have also arisen at Hangzhou Airport, where hundreds of flights have been canceled. Forecasts suggest that in the coming days, the typhoon may affect the operations of 44 airports across China.

Rail transportation has also been disrupted. In Shanghai and several provinces, train services have been temporarily halted or altered in certain segments.

The authorities are also preparing for possible flooding, with some areas expecting up to 800-900 millimeters of rainfall. Reservoirs are being readied to manage potential flooding flows.

The Chinese authorities consider 'Dolphin' to be one of the strongest typhoons of the year. The storm has already caused human tragedy, with strong waves along the coast of Zhejiang province washing away a 9-year-old boy. Search efforts are ongoing, but dangerous weather conditions are complicating rescue operations.

Forecasts indicate that the storm will move west and northwest across China, gradually weakening.
