31-Year-Old Man Threatens to Cut Police Officers' Throats with a Saw and Knife in Ararat Province

On September 28, an extraordinary incident occurred in Ararat Province. Around 12:00 PM, the Masis police department received a call from an unknown citizen reporting chaos at apartment 14 of building 35 in the Nor Takhmas neighborhood of Masis city, requesting urgent police assistance at the specified address.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the police discovered that the resident of the apartment, 31-year-old Vrej G., was in a non-adequate state, holding a saw in his right hand and a knife in his left hand, threatening to cut the officers' throats.

Thanks to the measures and explanatory work undertaken by the police and rescuers, which lasted approximately three hours, Vrej G. eventually left the house with the knife, leaving the saw behind. Police and rescuers tracked him down and neutralized him in front of a neighboring building, confiscating the knife from him.

According to G. Shamshyan, Vrej G. was transported to the National Center for Mental Health Preservation in Nubarashen by an ambulance that arrived at the scene.
