Illegal Timber Transported on Kapan-Goris Road

On September 26, 2019, around 21:00, employees of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body's Syunik Regional Division discovered a ZIL 131 vehicle without license plates loaded with approximately 11 cubic meters of timber in the territory of the Shurnukh Forestry of the Syunik Forestry Enterprise under the "Hayantar" SNCO, at the section known as "Kattari" on the Kapan-Goris road.

According to the Ministry of Environment, the employees noticed that preparations were being made to transfer the timber from the ZIL 131 truck to another vehicle, which was subsequently prevented.

Included in the actions was T. Hakobyan, a forest ranger from the 3rd ranger division of the Shurnukh Forestry of the Syunik Forestry Enterprise. In response to the legal request from the Syunik Regional Division employees to present documents verifying the legality of the timber, he did not provide any documentation.

The collected materials have been transferred to the Syunik Regional Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
