The Republic of Armenia is 28 Years Old
Today, the entire Armenian nation is celebrating the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia. The Declaration of Independence was adopted on August 23, 1990, during a session of the Supreme Council.
On September 21, 1991, a referendum was held in Armenia regarding the withdrawal from the USSR, in which 94.39% of the 2,056,758 eligible citizens voted 'yes' for independence. On September 23, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia, summarizing the results of the referendum, declared Armenia as an independent state.
This year, the central celebrations will take place in Gyumri.
