Extraordinary Incident: Head of Military Police Unit Allegedly Received Around $100,000 in Bribes

Employees of the Anti-Organized Crime Department of the Main Criminal Police Department, along with the Department for Combating Corruption and Crimes in Economic Activity, recently discovered the whereabouts of 24-year-old Vladislav M., a citizen of the Russian Federation, through operational investigative measures.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Vladislav M. was wanted under Article 229.2, Part 3, and Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As per G. Shamshyan's reports, Vladislav M. was within judicial proceedings in the city of Nakhodka, Russia, due to drug trafficking charges when, in 2014, he visited Armenia. During his visit, he met with Manuk Muradyan, a friend of his father, Eduard M., to discuss issues concerning his wanted status and Armenian citizenship, as well as to arrange for the issuance of a military ID in the future. Over a span of 2014-2015, M. Muradyan allegedly received a total of 6 million Russian rubles (approximately $92,000) from Vladislav M. through cash and bank transfers as a bribe.

Preparations are underway regarding this incident. According to G. Shamshyan, Manuk Muradyan currently serves as the head of the military police unit in Gyumri under the Armenian Ministry of Defense, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel.
