American Auctions Will Close Too: A New Wave of Protests Is Brewing
A new wave of protests is set to emerge in Armenia soon. Armenian importers of cars from the United States are facing upcoming challenges. According to the newspaper "ZHogovurd," starting from August 20, their personal accounts will be closed, meaning they will be unable to participate in American auctions.
The reason is that offers from American auctions are more attractive, as they provide the opportunity to purchase vehicles at significantly lower prices. It is known that Japanese auctions have been closed for more than a week for car importers.
The "ZHogovurd" newspaper reported that the personal accounts of most importers (who have been using Japanese auctions for several years) were shut down days ago. Only a few companies still manage to participate in these auctions, but it is unclear how long this will continue.
According to experts, the reason for the current situation is the planned increase in customs duties for new cars starting from January 1, 2020. Furthermore, Japanese auction dealers do not guarantee that they can transport the cars to Armenia within five to six months, and they may not arrive before the New Year.
