Commander Involved in Thefts from Military Unit Amounting to Over 8 Million Dram

The Military Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has confirmed and sent a criminal case to the court for substantial examination, related to particularly significant offenses against military service, examined by the 9th garrison investigative division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to the preliminary investigation, A.S., the commander of military unit N, exploited his official position in February 2018 by organizing the waste of diesel fuel allocated to the unit through officers A.B., K.Ch., A.H., A.S., and E.G., prompting them to make false entries in official documents, indicating that the engines of specified aggregates had operated under a loaded work regime, an assertion to which they agreed. As a result of these forgeries, 24,000 liters of diesel fuel worth 8,856,000 AMD were embezzled from military unit N between February and June 2018.

For committing the aforementioned criminal acts, A.S., the commander of military unit N, has been charged under Article 38-179, Part 3, Clause 1, and Article 38-314, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Soldier A.S. and Sergeant E.G. have also been charged under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code. Soldiers A.B., K.Ch., and A.H. face charges under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1, and Article 314, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Sergeant H.A. and Private K.S. have been charged under Article 38-179, Part 3, Clause 1.

All accused have admitted their guilt, and the damage caused to the state has been fully reimbursed.
