It Is a Provocation Organized by a Few: Vanetsyan on the Events in Ijevan

The situation in Ijevan remains tense. A consultation between law enforcement agencies concluded a short while ago at the provincial governor's office, after which the Chief of Police and the Director of the NSS answered journalists' questions. A group of protesters, including women and children, attempted to block the road again.

Director of the NSS Arthur Vanetsyan believes that the protest action that took place in Ijevan yesterday was not spontaneous. “It was not a spontaneous gathering, it was a provocation organized by a few individuals under the guise of the people's protest voice. Our visit to the province does not mean that all this has been forgotten, and that the culprits will not be identified and punished. During today's government meeting, the number of people who actively participated in organizing this action was mentioned: 39 individuals. Some of them have been apprehended, while others, who are hiding from law enforcement, can either come forward voluntarily or we will locate them; it is not difficult to find them, and they will face the law,” said Vanetsyan.
