Rockfall Occurs on Vayk-Jermuk Highway
The emergency service received a call on July 17 at 09:20, reporting that a rockfall had occurred near the "Charkyand" bends in the Vayots Dzor region, with a risk of larger rocks falling. According to the information provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, an operational group from the regional crisis management center and a rescue team from the special purpose rescue operations center were dispatched to the scene.
It has been determined that a rockfall occurred at the 10th km of the Vayk-Jermuk highway (2 rocks, 0.1 cubic meters). The rocks fell into a non-traffic area; there is a risk of further rockfalls. Rescuers have cordoned off the area.
