Supreme Court President Discusses Arrest of Subordinate
After today's gathering of judges, the President of the Supreme Court, Ervand Khundkaryan, addressed the arrest of an official from the Court.
"Any judge of the Supreme Court, as well as other judges, will strongly welcome such processes to uncover corrupt practices and hold these individuals accountable," he stated.
According to Khundkaryan, diligent and honest judges carry out their duties, and if it is discovered that anyone is engaged in criminal activity outside their judicial functions, they must be held accountable. "Believe me, for judges as well, it is welcome that these things are uncovered in a timely manner," he remarked.
However, the Supreme Court President refrained from publicly disclosing the name of the arrested official. It is noted that the individual in question is Armen Harutyunyan, the head of the criminal cases office at the Supreme Court, and the other arrested individual is a former lawyer.
According to the NSS statement, the former lawyer allegedly provided a bribe to an official of the Supreme Court to secure a favorable court ruling for a citizen in a civil case. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative department of the NSS under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia, with two individuals arrested.
