Extraordinary Incident in Vedi: Hand Grenade Detonated at City Hall
The police have received operational information that 57-year-old Petik Amirxanov, temporarily residing in the Ararat region, detonated a hand grenade at the City Hall of Vedi last night.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, police discovered Amirxanov in the town of Vedi, and he was taken to the Ararat police department. He confessed that he threw the hand grenade into the tax division of the Civil Status Registration Agency operating in the Vedi City Hall.
There were no injuries reported, but the interior property has been completely damaged.
The building houses several institutions, including the Vedi seat of the Ararat region's Prosecutor's Office, the Environmental and Natural Resources Inspection of the Ararat Territorial Division, the Vedi service office of the State Committee on Real Estate Cadastre under the government of Armenia, the Ararat Territorial Division of the Artashat tax inspection, the Vedi accounting office, the 25th subdivision of the Operational Surveillance Department of the State Revenue Committee under the government of Armenia, among other bodies.
An investigation is underway at the Ararat police department.
