Rights of Persons with Disabilities Should Not Be the Sole Responsibility of One Agency - Batoyan

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Zarouhi Batoyan, addressed pensions during a Facebook press conference with Radio Liberty, stating that the ministry faces challenges in transferring pensions if the citizen is not in Armenia.

“We will soon sign an agreement within the framework of the EEU, which will regulate the distribution of pensions according to the definitions of rights. Unfortunately, I must note that today pensions are granted as support and are not related to the salary that a person previously received,” she added.

Zarouhi Batoyan emphasized that during her time as minister, creating a model for assessing the needs of persons with disabilities is crucial, which would provide social inclusion for the disabled.

Another achievement is the prevention of children entering orphanages. According to the minister, resources should be directed towards families that can help keep children.
