Video: Gagik, Step Down. Protest at the Supreme Judicial Council, Demanding Gagik Harutyunyan's Resignation
A group of citizens is staging a protest in front of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), demanding the resignation of SJC President Gagik Harutyunyan.
According to the protesters, the SJC has done nothing to reform the judicial system.
“The power of the Republic of Armenia belongs to the people, and the people believe that the representatives of this judicial system must leave. With simple steps, they released Robert Kocharyan, and there were no consequences. The suspension of the March 1 case is sabotage against the current government. We say that no judge will leave this building until he resigns. We have come to empower our Prime Minister to take more decisive actions,” said one of the participants.
Police have formed a chain in front of the SJC entrance to prevent citizens from approaching the door.
