Discussing My Salary: Hakob Karapetyan
Amid discussions on the proposed salary increases within the City Hall's staff, the issue of the mayor's press secretary's salary, currently my salary, is also being raised. This was stated by the press secretary of Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan, Hakob Karapetyan, on his Facebook page.
According to him, publicly discussing personal income is not the most pleasant activity; however, due to the obligations of public service, he decided to provide some clarifications regarding his income.
“According to the proposal presented for the council's approval, my salary will be equal to that of a department head, and after taxes, will be about 450,000 drams. Before coming to the City Hall, I worked as a freelance journalist, screenwriter, and editor with several organizations, and my monthly income ranged from 500,000 to 700,000 drams. Accordingly, I paid approximately 250,000 drams in taxes and other mandatory payments each month,” Karapetyan wrote.
