Snow, Black Ice, Closed Roads: Current Situation

As of January 14 at 08:30, there are impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is impassable.

In all the roads of Kotayk Province, there is black ice in some places.

Snowfall is reported in the cities of Talin and Ashtarak in Aragatsotn Province.

Drivers are advised to travel in the provinces exclusively with winter tires.

About Lars

According to information from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepanavan-Lars road is closed for heavy trucks.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of North Ossetia, there are currently 158 heavy trucks, 79 passenger cars, and 1 bus stranded on the Russian side.

Construction Works Ongoing

Construction work is being carried out on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road from the 39th kilometer to Bagratashen.

The following alternative routes for vehicular traffic have been established:

Intra-community vehicular traffic towards the cities of Alaverdi and Vanadzor and nearby communities can be conducted via:

Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aigehat-Odzun-Alaverdi highway segments towards the Georgia border.

Since June 30, 2018, construction work has been conducted at the 139th kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a section of about 200 meters being closed from one side.
