A Solution on Railways Will Benefit Armenia and Not Offend Russia: Mirzoyan

A solution will be found regarding the railways that will benefit both Armenia and will not offend our Russian friends. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, in an interview with Armenian Public Television.

“Armenia's railway network urgently needs modernization. We have discussed this issue, and it seems that our Russian partners are not prepared to make the necessary investments. What should we do in this situation, considering that we will not miss this opportunity (the unblocking of communications – ed.)? The network needs to operate and integrate into a larger project. This issue is currently among the top three main topics in global politics. The whole world is looking for new logistic communications, and Armenia has the opportunity to become one of those routes, and everyone seems inclined to agree on this.

We are offering our Russian partners to sell the right for concession management so that they also do not suffer losses. Russia can sell it to any third country that would be acceptable for both Armenia and Russia. For example, it could be Kazakhstan or another country. This is the best solution and a friendly step,” noted Mirzoyan. He considered it natural that the initial response from Russian partners was cold.
