«State Secret»: NSS Refuses to Disclose the Construction Progress of the Fence in Nerkin Voskepar

The National Security Service of Armenia (NSS) has refused to provide information regarding the progress of constructing a border fence in the area of Nerkin Voskepar in Tavush Province. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia.

According to a written response from the NSS, “The information regarding the construction of barbed wire barriers in the Nerkin Voskepar area is considered information that reveals the structure of border protection.”

The service clarified that the specified data is classified as a state secret in accordance with the Law on State Secrets and the relevant government decision, which is why it cannot be disclosed under the Law on Freedom of Information.

It is noteworthy that earlier, in response to the same inquiry, the NSS did not consider this information a state secret and only stated that “appropriate work is being carried out.”

According to Sputnik Armenia, the construction of the border fence between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the area of Nerkin Voskepar is not yet complete.
