We will not be in the parliament tomorrow; we will be in Vagharshapat. Narek Karapetyan
We will not be in the parliament tomorrow at 16:00; instead, we will be in Vagharshapat with our compatriots to show that playing with our religious feelings will have consequences. This was stated by the leader of the "Strong Armenia" faction, Narek Karapetyan, during a conversation with reporters on August 6.
He announced that he, his supporters, and allies would be near the Echmiadzin court building at 16:00. Karapetyan added that an illegal action would take place at the Echmiadzin court tomorrow.
"The Armenian authorities are resorting to a shameful measure of pressure; an unprecedented event will occur in history. The Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II, has been summoned to court as an accused," noted the faction leader.
The deputy emphasized that the court has no right to make any decision regarding the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, citing Pope Francis of Rome, who often defrocks clergy, yet no court has challenged his decisions.
Karapetyan called this a violation of the Constitution regarding the separation of church and state. "This insults our religious feelings," he emphasized.
