US Embassies in the Middle East Urge Citizens to Prepare for Departure

US embassies in Israel and other countries in the Middle East are urging their citizens to prepare for departure amid rising tensions with Iran. “US embassies in Jerusalem and other capitals in the Middle East are advising American citizens in the region to avoid travel and be prepared to leave due to the potential for unexpected escalation in the conflict with Iran,” the Times of Israel reported on Saturday.

“The security situation remains challenging due to increasing tensions in the Middle East, with the possibility of unforeseen escalations,” stated a declaration from several US diplomatic missions in the region.

The report noted that “the Iranian regime is unpredictable, as demonstrated by its recent decisions to attack areas in the region without warning or provocation, and to expand attacks into areas that were previously not targeted, such as Egypt.”

“Americans in the region should consider leaving or be prepared to do so if tensions escalate. Americans outside the Middle East should seriously reconsider plans to travel to the region and through it,” the statement from US diplomatic missions emphasized.
