"A Position Has Been Given Up in Jermuk": Ministry of Defense Denies, Investigative Committee Initiates Case
According to a report received by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, on May 21, an individual identified as A.A. posted a video on Facebook, accompanied by the caption, "People, a position is being secretly surrendered to them, listen to this volunteer's words. Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense is campaigning with hearts." In the video, A.A. and one other person discuss the surrender of a combat position located towards the city of Jermuk to Azerbaijan.
On the same day, the Ministry of Defense officially denied the information provided by A.A. and the other individual.
In response to the report received, a criminal case has been initiated on charges of false denunciation and organizing false denunciation. During the investigation, the identity of the person speaking in the video, with their face obscured, was determined; this individual had been carrying out combat duty at a military position.
During questioning, this person denied any information regarding the surrender of a position, while also mentioning that he had attended a gathering organized by N.K. in a state of inebriation, where he met A.A., who, being aware of his social problems, immediately arranged an interview with a journalist. He stated that he was under the influence and provided information that did not correspond to reality.
