The collaboration of the observer mission and its headquarters officially began monitoring the pre-election phase of the National Assembly elections in Armenia on May 18. This process has commenced at the official invitation of the Armenian side. The mentioned mission is the 134th observation of electoral processes organized in CIS member states, and specifically, the 12th for Armenia.
The mission comprises approximately 120 representatives, 8 of whom will conduct long-term observation. As noted by the mission leader, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, Nurlan Seyitmuratov, their main directions of work will involve meetings with candidates for deputies, official representatives of state bodies, as well as leaders of political parties and alliances. The coordination of the works is being carried out by the mission’s headquarters, which has already begun organizing steps.
The members of the monitoring mission will rely on the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs and electoral processes of the state, as well as political neutrality while exercising their powers. The next parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7. According to the applications submitted to the Central Election Commission, 19 political forces will participate in the elections, including 17 parties and 2 party alliances.
