Russia Agrees to Support Trump's Initiative, Ushakov Says
Yuri Ushakov, the assistant to the President of Russia, announced that President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine in connection with Victory Day celebrations. According to Ushakov, the agreement on the matter was reached through telephone communications with the U.S. administration, while the American side has, in turn, contacted Kyiv.
The presidential assistant noted that the initiative is based on the recent phone conversation between the leaders of the two countries. During that call, the presidents emphasized the allied relations between Russia and the U.S. during World War II and considered the possibility of declaring a ceasefire on Victory Day.
“It is important that President Trump’s initiative is dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazism—our sacred holiday,” Ushakov added.
