Death Toll Rises from Train Collision in Indonesia
The number of fatalities from the railway disaster in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, has increased, with reports indicating that 14 people have died. Local authorities have confirmed that 81 individuals sustained injuries as a result of the incident.
Mohammad Siyafin, the head of Indonesia's rescue service, informed media outlets on Tuesday morning that there are still survivors trapped in the wrecked carriages. The Chief of Police in Jakarta, Asep Eddy Suheri, elaborated that the number of trapped individuals is estimated to be six or seven.
The incident occurred on Monday near the Bekasi Timur station in Jakarta, where an express train collided with a local service train that had stopped due to a taxi obstructing the tracks.
