Vice President Jay D. Vance's Visit to Pakistan Canceled

The visit of U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance to Islamabad, where negotiations with Iran were set to continue, has been canceled.

The New York Times, citing an American official, reports that Vice President Jay D. Vance's trip to the Pakistani capital has been postponed. The purpose of the visit was to resume negotiations with Iran scheduled for tomorrow.

The decision was prompted by Tehran’s refusal to respond to the conditions set by the United States. The report states, “The trip could be resumed at any time if Iranian negotiators respond in a way deemed acceptable by President Donald Trump.”

It had previously been announced that the negotiating teams from both sides were to arrive in Islamabad simultaneously. The day before, Donald Trump stated that the temporary ceasefire agreement with Tehran, set to expire today, would likely not be extended. The U.S. President also emphasized that if the ceasefire is not extended, Washington would “use numerous bombs against Iran.”
