Father Who Killed 3-Year-Old Tigran Sentenced to Life Imprisonment
Armen Ovanesov, who took the life of his 3-year-old son Tigran in the village of Tsapatagh, Gegharkunik Province, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. This was reported by Auroranews, citing the Datalex judicial information system.
During a court hearing held on March 25, Judge Artavazd Karapetyan announced the verdict, stating that Armen Ovanesov has been found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Ovanesov was charged under several articles of the Armenian Criminal Code, specifically Article 155, part 2, clauses 3, 5, and 9. The indictment states that Armen Ovanesov was motivated by suspicion that Tigran Ovanesov was not his biological child. On October 27, 2025, heated by this perceived grievance, he killed the defenseless minor Tigran Ovanesov by manually strangling him in a field near Tsapatagh, Gegharkunik Province. After hiding the body in various locations in the field, he subsequently transported it to an area adjacent to the intersection leading to the village of Jil, where the body was discovered on November 2, 2025.
The General Jurisdiction First Instance Court of Gegharkunik confirmed the sentencing in a conversation with Auroranews.
