Supreme Leader of Iran Dies
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, has been confirmed dead following attacks conducted by Israel and the United States, as reported by Iranian state television.
"The great nation of Iran has lost its Supreme Leader Imam Khamenei," the statement reads.
According to the Tasnim news agency, Khamenei was killed in his office early Saturday morning. The president’s office of the Islamic Republic has warned that his death will not go unanswered.
In connection with this event, a 40-day mourning period and a non-working week have been announced in Iran.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump had previously stated that Ali Khamenei was dead. Iran's Fars news agency, citing a source, has only confirmed the deaths of the Supreme Leader's daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and daughter-in-law.
