Iran Closes Airspace Near Border with Azerbaijan
Iran has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions, previously known as Notice to Airmen) stating that unmanned aerial vehicles will be used at altitudes from the ground up to 10,000 feet near the border with Azerbaijan. This information was reported by the flight monitoring resource flightradar24. The resource also published the coordinates of the maritime area where Iran has issued the NOTAM.
In the current situation, this warning from Iran indicates that the airspace over the entire maritime zone along the Azerbaijani border in the Caspian Sea is closed to all flights. This suggests that Iran is conducting drone exercises in this airspace.
The Iranian drone exercises are taking place against the backdrop of the significant mobilization of U.S. military forces in the region and threats of potential military action toward Tehran.
