We Will Lighten the Burden for Parents Moving Children to Private Kindergartens: Avinyan
We will start allocating funds for all children, even those on waiting lists, if their parents decide to enroll them in private kindergartens, we will co-finance this. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during the city hall's regular operational meeting.
Following Avinyan's appeal, Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan reported that under the developed program, the Yerevan community will co-finance the payment for a child's private kindergarten until the waiting list is reached for admission to a community-run kindergarten.
“We have discussed this program with our ministry partners, and they have also welcomed it. If we successfully implement this in Yerevan, perhaps this program will continue in the regions as well. This way, we will lighten the burden on parents, and if a child, for example, does not attend a community kindergarten, we will allocate the additional funds to private kindergartens for that service,” he said, adding that there is an average calculation for each child, which will be co-financed by the private family.
“Let us continue to work on the formula to understand that it is not the case that the Yerevan community is allocating its resources to affluent families who do not have a genuine need for this service. Let's make it clear that we support those people who really need these financial resources,” Avinyan stated.
