Hovhannisyan Comments on Criminal Proceedings Against the Catholicos
During the briefings of the parliamentary factions, Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the 'Civil Contract' faction, stated that under our government, all citizens of the Republic of Armenia are equal before the law. If there is a need to initiate a legal process, it should be launched, regardless of the status of any citizen of the Republic of Armenia. He made these remarks while addressing the issue of initiating criminal proceedings against the Catholicos during their governance, imposing a travel ban, and obstructing the Assembly of Bishops.
"These are legal processes, and the interpretation of which should be referred to law enforcement agencies," he noted.
In response to the question, Civil Contract faction MP Arusyakh Manavazyan remarked that if a citizen of Armenia fails to comply with a court ruling, from a legal perspective, they are responsible before the law. "This should not turn into noise or discussions about some kind of instructions; there is also another question: why was it decided to hold the Assembly of Bishops outside of Armenia?"
