New Changes Planned for Border Checkpoints
In Armenia, since the introduction of biometric passports, it is planned that contactless passage routes should operate at the airport and all border checkpoints. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly.
Addressing border management, the Prime Minister noted, “I have tasked the government that from the moment biometric passports start functioning in Armenia, which we expect in the autumn of 2027, our airport and all checkpoints should have contactless passage routes. This means that citizens with biometric passports should be able to board the plane, exit, or cross the border without contact,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
It is also noteworthy that the Prime Minister discussed this topic with the U.S. Vice President. He received assurances from American counterparts that they would share these technologies with Armenia.
