Hayk Sargsyan Addresses Corruption Allegations Against Him
Member of the Civic Contract faction, Hayk Sargsyan, stated during a press briefing that the corruption allegations circulating about him are false and fabricated.
"There is no such thing; it is false and fake. Many names could be mentioned, but that does not mean those individuals are involved in this matter," he said.
According to Sargsyan, he learned from the press that during his absence, some members of the administration accused him of being involved in corruption or non-corruption cases. He assessed that if such actions took place, it would be a gross violation of the Civic Contract party's regulations, as party members have the right to be present during discussions regarding their issues and to express their opinions.
"My right has not been upheld; if someone has tried to create the impression for Nikol Pashinyan that I am involved in a corruption scheme," he noted.
Hayk Sargsyan emphasized that no one has directly accused him, and he has perceived Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements as they were articulated. He believes that the Prime Minister's remarks do not pertain to him, as there would have been specific actions otherwise.
"I would not want to create the impression of a remote debate by trying to interpret the Prime Minister's thoughts, but I want to state that I have not been involved in any case nor am I currently involved. During discussions within the Civic Contract party, at least in my presence, no one has accused me of being involved in a corruption scheme," said Sargsyan.
When asked if he rules out the possibility of being detained before the elections as part of an anti-corruption effort, Hayk Sargsyan replied that he confirms nothing and rules nothing out.
