EU to Allocate €20 Million to Armenia: Kallas
The Council of the European Union approved a decision on January 29 to provide Armenia with financial support of €20 million under the European Peace Facility. This was reported by European official sources.
It is noted that the funds are intended to strengthen the logistical capabilities of the Armenian armed forces, with a particular focus on ensuring the protection of the civilian population in crisis situations. The program aims to develop technical and organizational capacities.
According to the EU Council's statement, the support will also contribute to enhancing the stability of the armed forces and the interoperability of actions in participating in potential future international military missions and operations, including those carried out by the European Union.
It is reported that the total funding for the program will reach €30 million. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated that support from the European Peace Facility is yet another step towards deepening EU-Armenia cooperation in the field of security and defense.
