US Aims for Government Change in Cuba by Year-End: WSJ
The administration of US President Donald Trump has begun seeking individuals within the Cuban government to facilitate a change of power in the country by the end of the year. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources, reports on a coup conspiracy.
“Inspired by the overthrow of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the Trump administration is looking for people close to the Cuban government who can help bring down the communist regime by year-end,” the report states.
Previously, Trump had remarked that Cuba is in a “very bad” situation, and no one can confidently predict what will happen to its economy in the future. He suggested attacks on the country and jokingly mentioned that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be an excellent choice as the next leader of Cuba.
