Ajapnyak Metro Project is Among the Most Complex: Tigran Avinyan
The Ajapnyak metro project is one of the most complex projects in our newly independent history, with simple assessments taking more than a year. Since this is our first time executing a project of such scale, it is expected that it will take time. This is a very complex task, and we have allocated 2 billion from the budget for the engineer supervisor's competition by 2026, who should be a highly qualified specialist with similar experience in such projects. It is better to spend time and be prepared.
This was stated today by the mayor Tigran Avinyan during the council meeting when responding to the question of why the construction works of the metro are not starting.
In response to another question from Anna Avetisyan, a member of the 'Mother Armenia' faction, regarding why the budget allocated for the Ajapnyak metro station decreased from 9.6 billion to 1.4 billion, and where the remaining funds were used, Avinyan replied that part of the funds was directed towards the purchase of 45 trolleybuses. 'Since these were funds aimed at the development of the transport sector, it can be said that they went to advance the same direction in the sector,' he concluded.
Reacting to Avinyan's responses, Anna Avetisyan expressed her opinion that she sees planning issues, as the funds could have initially been allocated to transportation.
