Azerbaijan Awaits Official Apology from Russia
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev's assistant Hikmet Hajiyev has commented on the relations with Russia following the recent incident involving the downing of an Azerbaijani aircraft. He noted that immediately after the incident, there emerged 'some misunderstandings' and 'emotional tension,' but concerns from Baku were discussed during subsequent meetings in Dushanbe.
According to Hajiyev, Azerbaijan is expecting four steps from Russia: an official apology, a full investigation, accountability for those responsible, and compensation. 'Once these issues are resolved, we will turn the page on the misunderstanding and continue with normal, friendly relations between the two countries,' he emphasized.
