Russia Must Make Concessions; We Can't Continue as Before – Kallas
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated in an interview with BBC Radio 4 that Russia's return to the 'G8' is not going to happen at this time.
'This should not happen. It is even impossible to imagine. We cannot continue as before,' Kallas said.
According to her, a comprehensive peace plan must serve the purpose of ensuring that Russia does not resort to aggression again: 'If we want this to end for good, then certain concessions are truly necessary from Russia.'
Kallas emphasized that such an approach implies that Russia must adhere to international agreements and reduce its armed forces. 'It cannot be that you invade another country and do not bear responsibility for it,' she added.
It is noted that one of the preliminary 28 points of the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine included Russia's return to the 'G8'. Later, the document was reduced to 19 points, and it remains unclear whether that provision was retained.
