Peskov Warns of the Danger of Severing Relations with Poland
The Kremlin has viewed the closure of the last Russian consulate in Gdańsk by Polish authorities as an attempt to reduce diplomatic relations to zero. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, noted that relations with Poland have "completely degraded" and emphasized that this situation only brings regret.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced that he had decided to withdraw his approval of the operations of the Russian consulate in Gdańsk. According to him, an official note will be sent to the Russian side regarding this decision in the coming hours. Sikorski linked his decision to recent incidents on the railway lines, adding that further actions would be taken if such incidents were repeated.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that two Ukrainian citizens involved in detonating railway columns had been identified, who had "cooperated with Russian intelligence for a long time," but they had left Polish territory through the “Terespole” crossing point. At the end of last week, two incidents were recorded on the Warsaw-Lublin railway line, including the activation of an explosive device. Poland’s Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, reported that the device used had been professionally made and had characteristics of a serious and pre-planned operation.
