Catastrophically Low Figures: No Increase in Registered Athletes in Armenia – Nazaryan
The Secretary of the Basketball Federation of Armenia, Arthur Nazaryan, made a post on Facebook, stating: "According to state, official data, there are only about 48,000 registered athletes in Armenia, which is approximately 1.6% of the population. This is not just low; it is a catastrophically low figure.
In neighboring Georgia, the number of registered athletes has already surpassed 200,000, while in Hungary, it approaches nearly 1 million. The next time someone tells you that we have 'impressive successes' in sports in Armenia, just put these numbers in front of them and say: we must honestly admit that we have one of the worst indicators in Europe, if not the worst."
