New Bill for Foreign Military Personnel and Citizens in Russia
The legislative activity committee of the Russian government has supported a number of initiatives aimed at improving the legal status of foreigners and stateless individuals who have served or are currently serving in the Russian military under contract. This was reported by RBC, citing sources from the committee.
One of the proposed initiatives suggests making amendments to the federal laws on the "Procedure for Entry and Exit of Foreigners to the Russian Federation" and on "Legal Status of Foreigners in the Russian Federation." If the bill is adopted, state authorities will be prohibited from making decisions regarding the expulsion, return, or reduction of the duration of stay in the country for those foreigners and stateless individuals who have served or are serving in the military.
The initiatives are yet to be discussed in the State Duma and the Federation Council, with the final decision to be made by the President.
