White House Issues A Warning Statement
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States could decline by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025 if the partial shutdown of government operations continues. This was announced by Kevin Hassett, head of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, during an appearance on CBS.
According to him, the shortage of staff in air traffic control due to the shutdown could lead to serious disruptions at the country’s airports, especially during the holiday season.
“If people are unable to travel during those days, we may see an economic downturn in the fourth quarter,” he emphasized.
Hassett also reminded that according to estimates by Goldman Sachs, the U.S. could lose about 1.5 percent of its GDP due to the shutdown, but based on his assessment, that figure could be higher if the situation is not resolved in the coming weeks.
