Yegishe Melikyan Comments on Dispute with Tkhinizyan

The head coach of the Armenian national team, Yegishe Melikyan, has commented on media reports regarding a dispute between him and national team defender Nair Tkhinizyan.

“I don’t understand if there are jabs in the air... Any conversation leaks out. There is no problem with Tkhinizyan. He has been called up to the national team, he will come, he will play. This is a team, and disagreements can occasionally happen,” Melikyan stated during a meeting with journalists.

According to him, Tkhinizyan approaches the national team with great dedication, and emotions and discussions in football are a natural phenomenon: “Football is a game of emotions. After a match, a player is still under stress for 24 hours, and talking with him at that moment can be misunderstood.”

Melikyan also emphasized that there can be heated discussions or arguments within the team, but these are unrelated to the rumors spread in the media. He noted that the issue of leaking internal information will be discussed within the team in the near future.

It should be recalled that within the framework of the World Cup qualifiers, the Armenian national team is set to compete against Hungary on November 13 and Portugal on November 16.
