Tensions Continue in Gyumri
The situation remains tense not only outside the Gyumri Municipality but also inside. There have been clashes between employees and masked law enforcement officers. Residents of the city are gathering in front of the municipality, where a large number of police are present. Just moments ago, two more buses of police forces arrived.
The law enforcement officials have blocked the entrance door of the municipality, preventing people, including municipal employees, from entering or exiting. The gathered crowd is booing the police and chanting 'shame.'
According to the municipality's employees, Mayor Vardan Ghukasian is inside the building, and security has been established near his office. Essentially, he has been isolated, and the employees gathered near his door are worried that there are attempts to arrest the mayor.
Earlier, it was reported that staff from the Criminal Police entered the Gyumri Municipality early in the morning. Masked special forces have prohibited employees from entering or exiting. The employees stated that they still have no information on the purpose of their arrival.
