Assassination Attempt on Margarita Simonyan Planned for $50,000, Says Russian Investigative Committee
The Russian Investigative Committee has completed the investigation into the assassination attempt against Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT television channel, reports RIA Novosti.
The founder of the terrorist organization "National Socialism/White Power" (which is considered terrorist and banned in Russia) and 11 of its members have been accused of organizing the assassination of journalist Margarita Simonyan for a sum of $50,000. This was announced by Svetlana Petrenko, the official spokesperson of the Investigative Committee.
The investigation concluded against those involved in the conspiracy to commit murder. They are charged with several crimes, including the creation of a terrorist organization, incitement of hatred, armed robbery, and conspiracy to murder.
Investigators believe that organization members Balashov and Egor Savelyev agreed to kill Simonyan at the request of unknown individuals. The accomplices gathered information about her schedule and travel routes. After receiving firearms and ammunition from the clients, they planned to carry out the conspiracy.
