After All, Someone Should Have Listened to the Speaker: Martun Grigoryan on the Case Regarding Vardan Ghukasyan
After all, someone should have listened to the speaker. Starting from the last days of the election campaign, I meticulously stated, episode by episode, and warned about what scenario the ruling party is preparing against the people of Gyumri, and how they plan to lead the city in the case of a vulnerable candidate. This was stated by MP Martun Grigoryan on his Facebook page in reference to the case involving Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan.
"I am forced to quote a part of my statement made on April 3, which the public has been eagerly awaiting: ‘Remember this day regarding what will happen next and how they will treat that individual. Will Gyumri be led through Vanadzor, or not - God forbid I am wrong,’" he quoted.
During those days, I was ruthlessly criticized for delaying, taking too long to think, and publishing my decisions late. Did you see the results of hasty actions? For this reason, one should have taken into account the opinion of someone experienced, who has gone through a political journey and similar trials, and not be guided by the influence of the moment, succumbing to emotions and political cowardice.
In this case, I regret that I was right on this issue, and you were wrong. Dear people of Gyumri, today we all witnessed what was likely filmed in Gyumri, involving the Mikhail Holy, Bagrat Holy, and Manvel Grigoryan-2 operations. On this matter, I will say nothing yet, considering the absence of objective investigative results. I also urge everyone not to violate the presumption of innocence.
I call on the law enforcement agencies of Shirak region, taking into account the emotional state of the people of Gyumri, to release all detained citizens. As for Democracy and Justice, they have exited Armenia towards Europe, and have extinguished the light and closed the door behind them," he wrote.
