Armenia's National Team Coach Yeghishe Melikyan Makes Statement
The head coach of the Armenia national football team, Yeghishe Melikyan, considers the draw against Hungary as a positive result. “For us, there is no difference after the match against Portugal and before the game against Ireland, or now. We have one goal: to achieve a good result. The priority is the upcoming match; we are not looking further ahead,” Melikyan said during the pre-match press conference.
Speaking about Hungary's leading player Dominik Szoboszlai, Melikyan emphasized that he is a player of high quality, but there are many footballers in the Hungarian team who can cause problems. “We have a good team that has great faith; tomorrow we will fight because we are dedicated to the national team. A draw against Hungary would be a good result for us,” he stressed.
It is worth noting that on October 11, at 20:00 Yerevan time, Armenia's national team will compete against Hungary in the third round of the European qualification phase for the 2026 World Cup. The match will take place at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.
